Short-Term Rehabilitation
Cedar Crest’s resident-centered philosophy involves implementing a personalized care plan for each patient. Our interdisciplinary team of experienced health care professionals works with the following stakeholders to develop each customized plan:
- Patient
- Family members
- Personal physician
- Social worker
Our team of registered nurses and certified nursing assistants monitor each individual’s care plan and provide special assistance as required.
Therapy
Therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation process at Cedar Crest. Services that our on-site therapy unit can include:
Physical therapy focuses on maximizing strength and mobility. Movement is the primary focus, which may include bed mobility, transferring from the bed, walking, using stairs, and wheelchair mobility. A physical therapist may also work with patients to decrease pain, gain endurance, restore balance, and improve range of motion.
Occupational therapy focuses on helping patients return to their life roles through therapeutic methods and environmental modifications. Occupational therapists teach patients new ways to perform tasks, like making dinner, getting dressed, or simply brushing their teeth. When necessary, training in the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment, such as reachers and long-handled shoehorns, is provided. Home evaluations may also be conducted to assess safety issues and provide recommended modifications.
Speech therapy focuses not only on speech but also on hearing, language, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. Speech language pathologists work with patients to improve expression, comprehension, and oral motor skills for effective speech production and strategies for safe eating.
Whether your home is in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Care, you have the option to participate in over 100 activities that are offered at Cedar Crest every month. Our resident-driven philosophy offers daily programming that is unique to each area of care. Our team’s efforts help enrich the lives of residents every day through the 5 dimensions of wellness: emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and educational.
At Cedar Crest, the Life Enrichment department is a team of staff members and volunteers from the community.
