We are the Retirement Community

You’ve Been Searching For

People that move to communities like Cedar Crest tend to be planners, people who like to know they’ve made the decisions they need to make to ensure they have a solid plan in place for their future.

A Life Plan Community provides just what they need. It allows “planning” and “living” to merge. Having a plan in place—the security of the safety net provided by the availability of healthcare, coupled with the freedom from not having to manage all the day-to-day tasks that come with homeownership—allows for living life to the fullest.

The term Continuing Care Retirement Community was coined nearly 35 years ago to describe the growing number of communities that provide a continuum of living and care options for older adults, starting with apartments and homes in which residents could live independently, then providing assisted living and skilled nursing residences that residents could move into if and when their health needs ever changed. The selection of the name “Life Plan Community” is the result of a multi-year effort led by LeadingAge, the national association of not-for-profit senior living organizations.

Cedar Crest provides a variety of residential options on our 70+ acre campus:

  • 40 Cottages
  • 125 Independent Apartments with access to care as needed
  • 120 Assisted Living Apartments
  • 24 Memory Care studios
  • 71 Skilled Care units

Cedar Crest is a single-site nonprofit that is governed by a board of directors.  There is no owner or shareholders.

Cedar Crest is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.  We are listed as one of their Health and Welfare Ministries.  For more information, click here:

There is an entrance fee at Cedar Crest in our Independent Apartments and Cottages, with the amount depending on the living accommodations that a resident selects.

Entry fees are used to enhance Cedar Crest’s ability to provide a diverse array of services to residents. They also assure all future living and health care needs will be met on a priority basis if changes in health occur.  Entrance fees over $100,000 are 85% refundable, and entrance fees under $100,000 are refundable for 2 years.  There is no entrance fee required for Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Care.

Cedar Crest uses the entrance fee to fund initiatives including benevolent care, property improvement, and ongoing maintenance costs.

There is a monthly service fee per apartment, covering all utilities (except phone service), cable, a dedicated storage unit, appliances, maintenance, laundry facilities, transportation, repairs, and recreation. Meal plans are a separate fee.

We recommend that potential residents and their family members visit and tour our community. When individuals decide to make the move to Cedar Crest, they complete an application. Residents also meet with one of our nurses to determine their care requirements and special needs. A signed agreement outlining the terms, included services, and fees completes the process.

At times, certain areas of our community have waiting lists.  In order to be added to a waiting list, the potential resident must have an approved financial application.  There is no deposit required to be on a waiting list.

Medicare.gov has given Cedar Crest high ratings.  This rating is based upon:

  • How nursing homes have performed on health and fire safety inspections
  • How the nursing home is staffed with nurses and other healthcare providers
  • How well nursing homes care for their residents
