Expansion Update 11/16/2021

Refining the scope of our expansion plans.

At the onset of our expansion campaign, we were planning on expanding 4 areas of our campus: Cottages, Apartments, Assisted Living, and Villas.  Taking on a building project of this scale in the midst of a global pandemic has presented a unique set of circumstances for our leadership team.  At this time the board has decided to move the project forward without the Villas.  All of the participants in the pioneer program for Villas have been contacted, and many have decided to pivot to our Apartments or Cottages.

Here is the latest update on our campus expansion:
1) Cottages: We continue to build new single-story ranch homes on the southern end of our campus.  Four are currently under construction and pricing and floorplans for the next two will be available early December.
2) Timeline for Apartments and Assisted Living:  Site work is scheduled to begin spring 2022.  At this point we are projecting that both will be ready for occupancy in late 2023.
3) Apartments:  Changing the scope of the project impacts the cost basis of the expansion, and we want to make sure that the entrance fees and monthly fees reflect the actual costs of the work.  As soon as we have determined this, we will begin to contact pioneers about selecting an apartment and making the initial 10% deposit.
4) Assisted Living & Memory Care: More information will be available in the coming year.  We recognize that at this point we have more demand than supply in this area and the expansion will help us address this need.

When can I pick out my new Apartment/Villa?

Earlier this week, our leadership met all day with our architects and construction partners to review bids and refine what our actual costs will be.  In the coming weeks, participants in the Pioneer Program will have the exclusive opportunity to select their homes in the priority that they joined the Program.  After the Pioneers have had their opportunity to select their homes, any remaining homes will be available for the general public.  We are optimistic that we may be able to start sitework this fall on the apartments.

Cedar Crest Chosen as Winner of 2021 Community Choice Awards

Site work has begun on 1953 & 1955 Waterford Court

Sitework has begun for the newest addition the Waterford Grove Cottages at Cedar Crest.  This will bring our count of Cottages to 33.  This new construction features two single story ranch homes that have a screened porch, zero-step entry, laundry on the main level, and a walk-in shower in the master bath.  Projected occupancy date for the homes is December 2021/January 2022.  Find out more here: https://cedarcrestlife.com/life-at-cedar-crest/cottages/

Cedar Crest Announces Campus Expansion Plans

JANESVILLE, WI – Cedar Crest announced a campus-wide expansion that will introduce a new housing option for active adults in Rock County.  The Waters Edge Villas will offer a blend of apartment and cottage living in 10-unit homes close to the Rock River.  The initial phase will include 30 villas, a clubhouse, and a pier adjacent to scenic walking trails.

The expansion will also increase the Waterford Place Apartments from 102 to 126 independent apartments.  The new apartments will feature open concept floorplans that range from 1100 to 1600 square feet.  They will be connected to the existing apartment building and have indoor access to dining and amenities.

A new CBRF (Community-Based Residential Facility) building will include 60 assisted living and 18 memory care apartments.  The four story building will feature a variety of floor plans and scenic views of the Rock River.  Residents will have access to a courtyard with outdoor seating and activities.

“This expansion will reposition our campus to provide exciting options for active adults and bolster our continuing care options for the greater Janesville area,” said David Tanck, CEO of Cedar Crest.

COVID-19 Vaccinations at Cedar Crest

We had a fantastic turnout for our first round of COVID-19 vaccinations yesterday! 216 of our residents and staff participated. Initial plans were to vaccinate staff and skilled nursing residents. Fortunately, we were able to include Assisted Living, Memory Care, and some Apartment residents as well! The CVS Team Lead said Cedar Crest was “breaking records for efficiency” with how organized the process was.
